What we do

Developmental editing

Our favorite style of editing that focuses on the bigger picture and provides comprehensive feedback with workable solutions.

Developmental editing is often used interchangeably with substantive editing or comprehensive editing.

Copy and line editing

The most commonly requested services that can focus on elements including: grammar, syntax, changes in tense and point of view, dialog tags, descriptive inconsistencies, word usage and repetition, and use of numerals. 

Fact Checking

We are proud to provide fact checking services for both nonfiction and fiction. 

If you are an author looking to have their manuscript fact checked independently from a publisher, please reach out for a discounted rate.

Proofreading

A final check on the mechanics of the manuscript. Generally we check for errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and formatting.

Who we collaborate with

We collaborate with writers, authors and co-authors, publishers, community groups, and small businesses on writing projects of all types. 

What types of projects we accept

We accept nonfiction and fiction projects, and those projects that interweave the two forms.  While we specialize in books and novellas, all lengths of works will be considered. We also work on short stories, essays, scripts, pamphlets, manuals, handbooks, and catalogs. We have even been known to work with some digital content. 

We accept a variety of nonfiction including books for general audiences pertaining to philosophy, science, nature, and history; creative nonfiction, cookbooks, memoirs, essays, travel writing, manuals, handbooks, and catalogs. We would love to edit your humorous work! 

We accept projects written for adult, YA , and middle grade audiences. We do not specialize in children’s literature, picture books, or board books.

Currently we do not edit poetry, but hope to in the future. 

We do not accept projects that have been generated using LLMs (Large Language Models), often referred to as AI, in any capacity.

Our promise

We believe in the written word. We also believe in humans. Whether you are trying to instruct your clients with an easy to read manual or are pursuing a literary prize. We promise to never use LLMs or AI generated content, or work with people or companies who do. We will never be complicit in the reprehensible acts of attempting to replace writers, creators, artists, and audiobook narrators with algorithms; stealing intellectual property; or removing craft from creation.
